Entry qualification

Postgraduate diploma (or higher) Postgraduate diploma (or higher) Master’s degree in social sciences: economics and business, law, education, psychology, occupational safety, engineering, natural sciences: biology and chemistry, computer sciences and informatics, environmental management, medicine, pharmacy, health sciences or equivalent education Work experience in the field at least two years The entry qualification documents are accepted in any languages (issued in or officially translated along with verified copies) You must take the original entry qualification documents along with you when you finally go to the university. Please provide bachelor’s diploma (for master studies) or master’s diploma (for doctoral studies) in the original language. If the diploma is not issued in English, a certified translation should be provided. The document must be legalised/apostilled

Language requirements

English Applicants must prove their English language knowledge. University accepts the following international language tests: LanguageCert International ESOL at least Level Communicator B2 (Written and Spoken exams); TOEFL IBT – at least score 72 TOEFL Essential – at least 8 points IELTS – at least score 5.5 PTE General – at least level B2 FCE – at least level B CPE – Proficiency/C2 Proficiency: any level CAE – C1 Advanced: any level If your previous studies have been obtained in English but not in the country listed below, then you have to present an official letter from your previous educational institution (University, etc.) where is stated that all your studies were in English (medium of instruction is English), and you have to pass interview where the University of Latvia will evaluate your language skills.

Other requirements	At least 1 reference(s) must be provided. A motivation letter must be added to your application. Successful pass of entrance examination where applicants will be invited to an interview via Skype. Applicants are obligated to upload: 1) A justification and framework (3-5 pages) for the chosen dissertation (no specific form defined); 2) Filled out Curriculum Vitae in Europass format.

Aim of study program

To prepare doctors of science, highly qualified researchers and specialists with appropriate knowledge, skills and competences about the importance of the human factor in work processes, safety at work and occupational health, as well as to obtain internationally comparable competence and an internationally comparable Ph.D. degree.

The content of the study program involves the scientific research, knowledge creation and transfer, approval work and specialization courses and consists of the following modules:
Science module – 95 creditpoints in total;
Specialization module – 25 creditpoints in total.
