Language requirements | English One of next variants, if you have no any of this certificates you can pass University or Baltic Center Exams: If your previous studies have been obtained in English but in the country where English is not native language, then you have to present an official letter from your previous educational institution (secondary school, etc.) where is stated that all your studies were in English (medium of instruction is English), and you have to pass interview where the University of Latvia will evaluate your language skills. If you don’t have any chance to take English test, University offers to take online Pearson test. |

Programme structure
The study programme consists of three parts:
Part A (Compulsory), 198 ECTS
This includes the doctoral thesis (120 ECTS over three semesters), three promotional examinations, academic publications in philosophy (3 publications required, 9 ECTS total), regular research seminars, international research seminars in philosophy (15 ECTS total), study courses “Trends in 21st century Philosophy” and “International Philosophical Organisations” (12 ECTS total);
Part B (Limited choice), 12 ECTS
Limited choice courses include “New Developments in the 21st Century Philosophy of Culture”, “Relevant Issues in Aesthetics and Social Philosophy”, “Emerging Trends in Inter-Cultural Philosophy”, “Philosophy of Enlightenment”, “Approaches in Philosophical Humanism”, “Philosophy of History”;
Part C (Optional choice), 6 ECTS
Optional choice courses are focused on academic teaching skill development.
