Programme structure
The study programme consists of 3 parts:
The compulsory part (A): 132 credits. It includes the doctoral thesis (80 cr. in 3 semesters); three promotional examinations; academic publications in philosophy (3 publications required, 6 cr. in total); scientific seminars; international research seminars in philosophy (10 cr. in total); Trends in 21st century Philosophy and International Philosophical Organisations (8 cr. in total);
- Compulsory elective courses (B): 8 credits. Part B consists of the courses in Actualities in the 21st Century Philosophy of Culture (8 cr.); Actualities of Aesthetics and Social Philosophy (2 cr.); the New Trends in Philosophy: Inter-Cultural Philosophy, Eco Ethics, Concrete Humanism (6 cr.), the Philosophy of History (4 cr.);
- Optional choice ©: 4 credits. These are courses helping to develop one’s academic teaching skills.
Estimated results of the Doctoral Study Programme:
After successful completion of the Doctoral Study Programme, a Ph.D. student has acquired following competences:
1. Knowledge or intellectual competences:
1.1. The ability to bring forward novel research topics independently;
1.2. The ability to complete scientific research in compliance with theoretical and practical standards set without assistance;
1.3. Deep professional knowledge in the selected research topic and philosophy in general;
1.4. The ability to write academic papers on the research results answering the requirements of internationally suitability.
2. Practical competences:
2.1. The ability to man the project teams and coordinate one’s individual activities with those of more experienced researchers and professors;
2.2. The ability to work out applications competently enough to participate in international and national research project competitions;
2.3. The ability to select modern research methods balancing the theory and its practical application;
2.4. The abilities necessary for a successful carrier in the management of research, academic and governmental institutions;
2.5. The abilities necessary for an expert in addressing the issues of national importance in the field of human sciences, culture and social problems related to philosophy and ethics, and the integration, education and culture policy;
3. Communicative skills.
