Overview
The study programme Financial Mathematics is of an application-based character. One-third of study subjects in the programme is dedicated to obtaining and deepening knowledge on mathematics (these are classical subjects which are taught at all universities throughout the world); other two-thirds of subjects are focused on obtaining specialized competencies in economics, finance and IT as well as a purposeful combination of them. This provides conditions for the development of specialized competencies leading to the solution of the problems of prediction and optimization, design and assessment of new financial instruments, modelling of contingencies and risks, assessment of principles of insurance against potential loss etc.
With a variety of opportunities for internship and studies abroad, you will be able to spend up to 30% of your studies in foreign universities.
The Practice is carried out in domestic and foreign business or logistics enterprises, financial institutions (e.g. banks, insurance companies, stock exchanges, investment and pension funds,) and in the state institutions (e.g. state social insurance fund “Sodra”, “Center of Registers”, “National Health Insurance Fund”, State Tax Inspectorate). This especially enhances the acquisition and consolidation of specialized competencies and skills.
Almost half of the programme’s students become employed in their last year of studies.
Career opportunities
The acquired qualification degree enables:
to work in banks, investment and pension funds, stock exchanges, insurance companies, logistics and business enterprises (as financial and insurance analysts, actuaries, developers of business optimization models, investment consultants or specialists, financiers, risk assessors etc.);
