Plant biotechnology is an exciting and rapidly developing field. Plant biotechnology is an extension
of traditional plant breeding with one very important difference – plant biotechnology allows for the
transfer of a greater variety of genetic information in a more precise, controlled manner. The
benefits of agricultural biotechnology and, specifically, plant biotechnology, are now at the
forefront of international interest as having great potential to influence and benefit agriculture.
The program provides a broad and interdisciplinary education in the field of crops improvement:
Life Sciences: – Biology of the Cell – Eucaryotic Molecular Genetics – Genetic Engineering – Biotechnology of Microorganisms and Animals – Development of Plant Genetic Diversity by Biotechnology, etc.
Environmental Sciences:– Genetically Modified Organisms: Use and Environment – Agroecology and Environment, etc. – In addition to lectures and seminars, students will gain practical experience and skills during laboratory works, field trips and internships.
Graduates of Agrobiotechnology study program are offered careers in research and study
institutions of agrarian and biological profile, in agricultural business companies, industrial and
agricultural biotechnology companies, consulting and expertise services and related international
organizations, in other governmental and public institutions and organizations.
