M.A.Public Health Education

Program is oriented to the recent individual and public health needs and sustainable interaction with education. The programme seeks to develop effective, evidence-based oriented public health care specialists, who are able to organize and implement not only the functions and activities of the public health care specialist, but also to organize and carry out non-formal child and adult educational programmes and activities. The master programme Public Health Education is based on the health and education policy documents and programmes, strategies, goals and objectives of the European Union and the Republic of Lithuania. In addition, the programme is based on the mission of the Klaipeda University: the educating of the human and intellectual society, the development of the fundamental and applied research, and the educational, cultural, consulting, and experimental activities, along with the maintenance of the cultural identity and historical continuity in the European Union and at the circumstances of the globalization. The rapid changes of the society needs and the development of the individual and the public health care influences the areas and activities of the public health professionals. The role and the activities of the modern public health specialist are comprehensive, include various functions and duties, and require competences for health promotion and health education. For the implementation of the health education and health promotion strategies and programmes there is need for the high quality specialists with basic biomedical and/or social sciences education, who are capable to work in the multi-professional teams, and through formal and non-formal educational activities to ensure better public health.
