Overview

FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, TRANSPORT AND AERONAUTICS
Complicated medical technologies, new methods of diagnostics and therapy, computer based equipment and the networking of health care institutions need nowadays to be supported by highly qualified professional specialists.

The Bachelor study programme is designed to meet the future need for medical care to be provided through an efficient health care system, which makes use of state-of-the-art technical equipment in prevention, diagnosis, and therapy.

In comparison to other international examples, the RTU programme isinterdisciplinary covering both medical engineering and medical physics disciplines.

The programme is delivered in cooperation with Riga Stradins University, the university preparing specialists in medicine.

Medical Engineering and Physics is a diverse and exciting programme that covers the research and analysis of many of the latest advances in medicine.

A Medical Physics Technology Engineer works in medical institutions such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, health centres rehabilitation institutions, specialised centres, laboratories as well as medical equipment distributors.

Graduates work in the design, development, testing, control and maintenance of medical equipment, devices and instruments. In addition, they work in service, certification, monitoring, production, design and research companies.
